ASHP is today announced that Janssen-Cilag announced it has received approval for the UK and the Netherlands for the sale of a 1mg tablet of finasteride (Propecia®). The product is indicated for men over the age of 18 for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and the treatment of male pattern hair loss with hair loss.
The product, which contains 1mg of finasteride, has been shown to be effective in the treatment of men with mild hair loss and male pattern baldness.
“We are very pleased to offer Janssen-Cilag’s Propecia’ (finasteride) for sale in the UK,” said ASHP Vice-President, Commercial, James Graham, Head of Product Sales, ASHP.
“With this in mind, we have decided to initiate this sale of Propecia at this particular pharmacy and we are very confident that we will be able to supply all of these products to customers in the UK and the Netherlands,” said Graham. “This is a significant step forward in our effort to bring men on to our significant product portfolio.”
